Speech Clarity Support for Adults and Teens in Alberta

Online SLP Services for Adults and Teens in Alberta

Clear speech can make communication easier, more natural, and less stressful.

At Christina Cumbria Consulting, I provide online speech-language pathology services for adults and teens in Alberta who want support with speech clarity and pronunciation.

Some clients want help being better understood in English. Others want support with specific speech sounds that have always felt difficult. Some want clearer communication for school, work, presentations, interviews, or everyday conversations.

My services focus on practical, real-life communication.

You do not need to sound like someone else to communicate clearly. The goal is to help you speak in a way that feels clear, confident, and true to you.

Services offered

Christina Cumbria Consulting currently offers two main speech clarity services:

  • Accent Modification
  • Adult and Teen Articulation Therapy

Both services are offered online and are personalized to your goals, speech patterns, and communication needs.

Accent Modification Services

Accent modification is for adults who speak English as an additional language and want to improve how clearly they are understood. This service can help with:

  • Pronunciation
  • Speech sounds
  • Word stress
  • Sentence stress
  • Rhythm
  • Intonation
  • Pacing
  • Pausing
  • Overall clarity and intelligibility

Adult and Teen Articulation Therapy

Articulation therapy is for adults and teens who have difficulty producing specific speech sounds clearly.

This service can help with:

  • Lisp patterns
  • Unclear /s/ or /z/ sounds
  • Difficulty with /r/
  • Difficulty with /l/
  • Difficulty with “th”
  • Difficulty with “sh” or “ch”
  • Speech sound substitutions
  • Pronunciation patterns that affect clarity
  • Speech sounds that feel awkward, unclear, or hard to control

Articulation therapy focuses on how sounds are made.

We look at what is happening with the speech sound, how the mouth is moving, and what needs to change for the sound to become clearer. Sessions may include mouth placement strategies, listening practice, sound practice, word and sentence practice, conversation practice, and carryover into daily life.

For teens, articulation therapy can support confidence in class, presentations, interviews, part-time jobs, and social situations.

For adults, it can support clearer communication at work, during meetings, on phone calls, in presentations, and in everyday conversations.

Receipts for Alberta Clients

Receipts are provided for all SLP services and will include my ACSLPA registration information.

Some Alberta clients may be able to submit their receipts to a workplace benefits plan or private insurance provider, such as Sun Life, Manulife, Canada Life, Alberta Blue Cross, or another extended health plan. Coverage varies by plan, and some plans may reimburse speech-language pathology services up to a yearly maximum.

Please note that I do not offer direct billing at this time. Clients pay for sessions directly and submit receipts to their benefits provider if they wish to seek reimbursement.

If you are unsure whether accent modification services are covered under your plan, I recommend contacting your insurance provider before booking. You can ask whether services from a registered Speech-Language Pathologist are eligible for reimbursement.

Clients who do not have extended health benefits may also choose to keep their receipts for tax time. Speech-language pathology services may be eligible as a medical expense, depending on your personal situation. Please check with your accountant, tax professional, or the Canada Revenue Agency to confirm whether you are eligible and whether a minimum medical expense amount applies.
